:D Hey Guys

Glad i found this forum. Ill get straight to the point:

I drive a 1999 Honda Ballade 150i.

This is what ive managed to do so far with the Audio Side (Still Lots left)

Pioneer HU Mp-2950
2 x 12" Targa Street Series (1000RMS Each) (Spec Box)
1 x Targa "Baby Beast" Mono (2000RMS @ 1Ohm)
Targa Magnesium Splits 6.5" (120RMS) (Custom Install due to very shallow Speaker holes)
Targa Street Series 6x9s (120RMS)

Future Plans (Very Soon  )

*Scrapping the 6x9s and throwing in a 700w 2 Channel Targa Amp (2x 150RMS) to run my splits.
*7 Band Targa EQ
*Sound Deadening (Boot + Backboard)
* LED Lighting in Footwells and Boot

As you can see im a huge Targa Fan

So do you think im right in scrapping the 6x9s and just running the splits on a 2 channel?

Any criticism or advice would be great :)

JC

Hey Man,

Welcome. good idea in scrapping the 6x9's. How many amps do you wanna run in total?? Run the splits off the amp and leave the 6x9's off the deck for rear fill. remember that the music must come from the front, not the back

I would leave the EQ out. Rather change the deck to one with three sets of line outs. Most of the higher end decks have a nice adjustable EQ which will give you more adjustment than an external one and won't add noise to the system.

Good idea to change to splits off a seperate amp.

I always heard adding an EQ to a system adds up to 3db? (Correct me if im wrong)

Problem is those decks are quite expensive....Hence the idea of an EQ.

@Jules: Do you think i should scrap the 6x9s and just have a front stage running on a 2 channel?

I figured when i scrap the 6x9s id allow more bass into the car? As the rear speaker slots are open?

Thanks Guys!

Yes leave the 6x9 holes open, maybe recover the board so you can't see the cut outs from the outside. Just have the splits running off that 2ch amp.

Yes and no. An EQ will have a higher voltage output giving a cleaner signal to the amp. But a cheap EQ is going to add more problems than its worth.

The better EQ's like the Earthquake etc start at around R2,000 and go upwards from there, like the Cache and Audiocontrol ones.

For R2k you can get a decent deck and I would go that route.

Here's my kit:

Pioneer HU DEH-2950MP
AudioBank 5 band pre-amp
Targa TG-18D amp
Targa TAG-4100C amp
Targa 5" PC series splits
2 x Targa 12" Street Woofers (800W RMS each)
Pioneer 6x9's on back board

Here's my advice:
I personally would leave the 6x9's and get a TG-485 to power the splits and 6x9's.
Yes I know that 6x9's are kak but with so much bass my Targa split system can't keep up and the bass is overpowering, which is why I'm considering leaving the 6x9's but changing them to Targa.
You can fade the 6x9's out completely or quite a bit so that it doesn't stuff up the front stage too much.
Also I'm with J on changing the HU, I think that will be my next move cos the pre-amp is ok but with my other system the Alpine HU just has so much more control.
Also there's always a bit of line noise that I can't get rid off, which I suspect is the HU and pre-amp.
